Homeschooling: Swift Playgrounds Coding Program is Out!

homeschooling parenting

I've already been slacking off on doing these posts daily.  I really want to do them daily, but life has gotten in the way.  It's possible they will evolve to weekly inspiration.  But, for now, I'll keep trying to do them daily, or at least every couple of days! The most exciting thing of the week for us is that the Swift Playgrounds app has just been released for iPad and iPhone. It's free, but I still "bought" it.

WHAT I BOUGHT:

Swift Playgrounds app.  My 9 year old son has been counting down the days until this app was released.  He has a dream of creating an iPad app and this app will teach him the actual programming language that iPads are programmed in.  He is beyond thrilled right now.  And I'm excited to learn with him.  Check it out on the Swift Playgrounds web page.  We're waiting to update his iPad to iOS10, and we'll let you know what we think of the new app!!!

MIND/BODY/SPIRIT:

I went to my therapist this week, and she did a round of traditional EFT with me.  I'm actually a certified practitioner of a technique called FasterEFT, which uses similar methods of tapping on the acupressure points on the face and chest.  She suggested we deal with my feeling that "I have to hold it all together" and my questioning my decisions after I make them.  She lead me through a few rounds of tapping on my forehead, outer eye, under my eye, above lip, chin, collar bone, under arm, and the top of my head, while repeating what she suggested I say.  After about 5 minutes of this, I felt much better.  I feel like I'm able to book a trip for my birthday in December without worrying about what may happen or trying to get all the plans perfect to please everyone.  I'll let you know how the planning goes!

FOOD:

Nothing too exciting here.  I had a Facebook friend just finish doing the Whole30 program.  She shared photos of her food and I realized I eat similarly every day.  I'm feeling so good now that I cut out dairy and grains.  I hated the thought of cutting out dairy, but since I have, my energy levels are much higher and I'm sleeping better at night.  I got that magnesium I mentioned in the previous post (Jigsaw Health brand) and I've actually noticed a huge different with it as well.  I take 2 tablets in the morning with breakfast and 3 tablets with dinner.  I actually had a great bowel movement this morning (I've had trouble with this for years) and I slept really well last night. That's it for now.  We just installed Swift Playgrounds after the iPad finally updated, and I have to go pry my son away from it and get him to brush his teeth.  Typically, we say no screens after 7pm, but tonight was an exception, of course!!!
