The Nemechek Protocolâ„¢ for Healing Autism - One Year Update!


We've been on the Nemechek Protocol™ for a little over a year!  If you haven't seen my original video where I described my son's awakening and progress after 6 weeks on the protocol, check it out here.

In the video above, I report on how my son is doing (great!) after a year on the protocol.  He's 12 now, and is so much more aware of his emotions and his surroundings.  I am also feeling great, my skin is clearer, and my digestion is so much more regular.  I'm even enjoying (and digesting) raw vegetables like carrots, lettuce, and beets now!

Here are the items recommended as part of the protocol.  If you substitute products, you are not on the protocol.  So stick with the tried and true products below.

People have asked how to measure tiny amounts of inulin as you begin the protocol.

You can get tiny measuring spoons on amazon.

To start, the protocol consists of adding 3 things:

  1. Inulin

    NOW brand Inulin powder  (start with 1/8 tsp or less, working way up to 1/2 tsp over time)


  2. DHA-500 or Nordic Naturals Omega-3

    Now Brand DHA-500 (Adults should take 3000 mg DHA, kids should take less - see dosage recommendations from the book below)


    Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega Liquid or Capsules (or the fish oil gummies for young kiddos)

  3. Real, certified extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)

    California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil (or another brand certified by - 1tbsp - 2 tbsp per day plus cook with it)

And removing only these things from the diet:

  1. Omega-6 oils (sunflower oil, safflower oil, soy oil, peanut oil, "vegetable" oil, "vegetable" shortening)
  2. Probiotic supplements (yogurt, sauerkraut, kombucha, and kefir are fine)



Inulin - start with a tiny amount (1/8 tsp or .63 ml) and work up to 1/2 tsp per day
Olive Oil - start with 1 Tbsp (15 ml) and cook everything in it, working up to 2 or more TBSP
Omega-3 Oil (Total of EPA+DHA):  dosage goes by age of person

  • 0-6 Months Old: 150 mg daily
  • 7-12 Months Old: 300-450 mg daily
  • 1-5 Years Old: 450-600 mg daily
  • 5-7 Years Old: 600-1000 mg daily
  • 8-10 Years Old: 1000-1500 mg daily
  • 11-14 Years Old: 1500-2000 mg daily
  • 15-18 Years Old: 2000 - 3500 mg daily

If you're older than 18 years old, you need AT LEAST 3000 mg daily of DHA.
