Could Bad Bacteria in the Small Intestine Cause Autism Symptoms?
In the video, I talk about the Nemechek Protocol™ for Autism. I've heard the name before, but just started researching it. Dr. Nemechek is from Arizona and sees patients locally as well as consulting via Skype.
In his book, he goes into detail about how the imbalance of bacteria in the small intestine causes "leaky gut", which lets bad chemicals into the brain and damages it, causing autistic symptoms or symptoms of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and lots of other issues.
You can buy his book here: https://autonomicrecovery.shop
I'm not affiliated in any way with him. I just think more people should know about this!
He recommends some inulin gummies that I don't approve, and also this Now Inulin Powder, which is made from organic Agave. Inulin is a pre-biotic and feeds the good bacteria in the small intestine, crowding out the bad ones.
The heal the brain, he recommends Omega-3 and -9 fish oils or cod liver oils.
He recommends Carlson or Nordic Naturals Fish Oil, and Now Fish Oil. I like Cod Liver oil the best, since it comes from whole food. Carlson Cod Liver Oil is reasonably priced and good quality.
And he recommends olive oil. There is a lot of fraud in the oil industry, since olive oil is expensive and some companies think they can get away with diluting it and selling it. Dr. Nemechek recommends California Olive Ranch olive oil.
So, to recap...
On the protocol, we want to ADD:
- inulin (go low and slow to avoid gas and bloating)
- Omega 3 and 9 fish or cod liver oil
- olive oil from California (make sure it's actually olive oil - check here www.cooc.com)
We want to AVOID:
- probiotic supplements
- digestive enzymes
- Omega 6 oils:
Soy (soybean) oil
That's the quick rundown.
